Day 111

December 19

Monday. So on Mondays, all museums are closed... so we just switched our plans up and set two museums aside for tomorrow and did the rest of the stuff we planned to do today! The guy, Marco came down and made us breakfast...it was not as good as we expected from reading the book that people signed saying "amazing breakfast". It was just croissant that was store bought he left on the kitchen, which we ate last night since we had no dinner, he just heated it up which made it a bit better I guess, and made a horrible cappuccino and gave us juice. We left at 9 to go to Piazza Michelangelo. We caught the bus 12 to there! Free, again Lol....We took pics and saw a wedding photo shoot taking place, they were legit from china, and so many people came too! Lots of asian tours all over Italy..Korean& Chinese..

We took a bus down..then walked by the library which would not let us in because we aren't italian, racist much..sheessshhh. Then we went to the Statue Garden next...this is the place where the bronze statue of Perseus is holding the head of Medusa. Around were lots of shops like Chanel and all. We walked down a bit further to visit the famous Il Porcellino, which is Italian for "piglet". If you touch it's nose you will get good luck! I touched it about 5 times..then I also put a coin in it's mouth, where water was flowing down, and it your coin falls into the little drain you will get to make a wish and have it come true. Wiki said this about it "Visitors to Il Porcellino put a coin into the gaping boar's jaws with the intent to let it fall through the underlying grating for good luck and rub the boar's snout to ensure a return to Firenze, a tradition that has kept the snout in a state of polished sheen while the rest of the boar's body has patinated to a dull brownish-green." SO HOPEFULLY I'll return to Florence one day :) This is only a copy, the real one is in Museo Bardini which is also in florence, but we didn't go to that one.

Next up was lunch! I think we spent quite a bit of time trying to avoid touristy places, but everywhere was pretty touristy so we settled for this pasta place that a lot of people were at..mostly italian men O__O. I got this mushroom with ham pasta. We went to Duomo - Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore afterwards. Too bad you can't go under where the pretty ceiling was...it was blocked off, but if you paid 8 euros you can walk along the top floor of the church..heh..Then it seemed that we seen more of Florence, well walk most of it! We just spent the next like 3 hours walking around..looking at shops, the covered market on the bridge that was famous for selling jewelry. I tried looking for the steak house my Big ate at..but it was nowhere to be found! We ended up going to a steakhouse this asian lady at the leather shop recommended. Sonya and I shared a steak, side of fries..and I got a glass of white wine. Christina got 2 pastas...and we all got dessert, i got the hazelnut gelato..mm and sonya got the cheesecake and Christina go tiramisu. Then it was a scary walk back home..we walked to the termini and caught a bus but again, detour!! So I guess we got off a little bit after where we are staying and a nice lady helped give us directions and again we were home safe!! YAYY.
