Saturday. Early early rising for mee...probably 730 got ready, then we went down for the free breakfast at this bar down the street which the hostels all own or have some sort of sistership. My chocolate croissant was gross, well the chocolate part..ewww, but the orange juice and coffee made it good. We headed on our way on the metro from Termini station to Vatican City....we visited the museum and it was hugee!!! I think we spent about 3-4 hours in there..so much to see...huge Hercules statue..lots of paintings and sculptures.. saw a mummy..saw the first copy of virgin mary holding onto a grown christ. We will be seeing the real thing later on...Then we went to find lunch, after walking away from the museum to avoid touristy areas, we settled for this pasta/pizza restaurant...it wasn't that good..I ordered a pizza with salmon, so lil salmon but if there was more it'd be really good, christina's pasta carbonara sucks and i guess sonya's pizza with anchovies was gross too.
Then we headed to find Vatican City.. we waited in line for St. Peter's church, since Christina said the entrance to Vatican City is inside the church..yep no entrance, you can't even get into Vatican City unless you are on a bus tour! Then we walked a whole lot, along the river to go to see the shopping area of Rome, and the Spanish Steps...we went to a church that the Spanish Steps lead to then we just looked around then took a metro to Trastevere where we were going for dinner, as this guy I met at my Paris hostel said there was a 3 course meal for student pricing of 10 euros...So you can't even choose what pasta you wanttt, whatt. We got white wine as part of it, and it was bruschetta, red pasta and bread with nutella for dessert..kinda stupid. It was soo sketchy walking to the restaurant..and when we took a train we had to switch to a diff type of train and one of the stops wasn't even on the map so we were like "where are we?!?!" Afterwards we took a tram back to the station, it's very hard to pay, since you have to buy tickets at a store, so we didn't pay for tram lol. When we finally got on the train and home, we were soo happy to be safe and sound.

December 18
Sunday. After grabbing breakfast, this time I got a croissant with chocolate chips which was delicious and oj&coffee, we went off to the Colosseum, after moving all of our stuff into the living room since we didn't wanna drag it...we walked to the Colosseum..it was just a 20 minute walk..We always followed people who look like tourists as they were probably going to the same place :P We passed by the Rome University, saw some gypsies getting shooed away by the police. The gypsy had a baby :O The Colosseum was real nice, can't believe I saw it in life...soo excited..since I been learning about it all through highschool and seeing it in life, breath taking.. It was very different from when it was originally built though, lots of restoration. We also went to Palatine Hill and spent like 2 hours there so we were kind of in a rush to finish up our itinerary before we had to depart to Florence. We didn't even have time for lunch! We went to Paleochristian church of Santa Maria in Cosmedin, where the The Mouth of Truth (La Bocca della Verità ) was. We paid a euro to go into the crypt..which was very underwhelming but it's "history" I guess.
The last destination was the Fountain of Love and it was drizzling when we were heading there. It was very gorgeous and I'm glad Christina was soo persistent in going though we were running outta time. We always took the bus and never paid, hahaa. We made a wish and threw our coin into the fountain together. After going back to the hostel and picking up our stuff, Christina stayed, and Since we were starving, Sonya and I went back to the pasta place and I ordered my carbonara again, but it was different waiter this time, and they actually gave us bread...Ate for like 30 mins since I still needed to run to grab a bottle of water and to catch our train...Took a train to Florence at 420...
We reached Florence after a 1 and 30 min ride on the train? So we hopped on a bus, well I did and NO ONE ELSE DID, and I was scared for my life cause no one was on with me!! But the bus stopped after a lil and they ran up to get on, and we ended up taking a long long bus ride because I guess there was a detour where our stop was so it never stopped..after an hour..and trying to talk to bus driver who only spoke italian to me and ignoring me when I tried to pay, we asked some Italians who spoke english and they told us when our stop actually came up...we reached the hostel, thank god, exhausted, the guy showed us places to go and then we called it a night and passed out! He actually asked me if I was wearing contacts because he was so mesmerized by my green eyes that he loves..LOL..
So I guess in the middle of the night, the guy came downstairs to turn the lights off and Christina was traumatized cause we left the door open for light and she was like why is someone coming in!??! The next night we locked the door. There wasn't anyone else in the flat so we didn't care to lock our room door. Just like Rome, this place was cold even though there was heat this time.
