The seats were pretty comfortable..if it wasn't 16 hours. So.........there was turbulance...and.....the guy next to me was soo worried about me cause I like froze and grabbed the seat and was like FML in my head. BUT thank god, we were okay so no worries. The people I told after were like "I wish I had that!" NO! it was so scary. But anyways, also ate crackers, we had a brownie thing with the lunch and raw salmon and orange juice. You can pick either orange juice, water, soda...or wine? The 2nd meal had fruits too. So anyways, we landed.
And I followed the lady and the guy. The guy went off because he's a Hong Kong citizen who goes to school in U.S. So the lady waited for me while I did the checking in. They were both here for 3 weeks for vacation. So got my luggage, this other nice lady saw me struggle to grab my 50 pound luggage so helped me. Then I went out to the meeting point where the big plasma screen and Burger King was. Met Raymond! He was the "coordinator". Also met Kalvin "Charles!!!" (California) and a Singaporean girl. Then I met Alex from Spain, who lives in i-house with me. And Jeannette and her brother Tony from Canada and Dave, who lost his luggage, missed his place..who I finally learned the name of today, haha. I got my first hong kong food! It was eel with noodles cost like 60HKD. It was okay. I went to my room, and...took a shower and passed out. It's a triple and there is a local girl, who has the window bed, and one in the middle is unknown, still waiting. I met her this morning...while I was sleeping. (Friday)
my bed is the closest one..(to the door too)
my desk!
So Thursday.
Woke up at 9 AM, met up with Alex, we went to the lecture hall, there was a nice long orientation from 10:30 AM til 5:00PM for me. I had lunch with him at Benjamin Franklin...I got ramen 13HKD and water. Then at 6:00PM went to University station to meet up with Raymond and everyone else for the unofficial tour. We went to Yau Ma Tei to eat, I totally helped Raymond herd over 40 people. He called me a local cause my chinese soo gooddd. I met Andy C. and Andy P. we ate with Jeannette and Tony and other people at some street place, so tables outside and all. Then we went to Tsim Sha Tsui and looked at the night skyline of Victoria Harbor. I think I met Min "Korea" here. So we just talked and looked at the skyline...and water. Then we all went to take the ferry, and all of them got lost! Was gonna go out with them but since I had no phone...they couldn't call. Then we "the tour" went to Downtown central then went to Lan Kwai Fong and I met Cathy who's also in i-house and I heard Joanie yell my name. hahaha, then I went with RAymond, and met Vicki and a lot of people that I don't remember the names of, typical, and we all went to Fo Tan to eat "dai pai tong" and got back around 2am. Slept at 4 am, DID NOT UNPACK, yet again.
Friday
My roommate who's local walked in at like 8 AM ish, so me being so tired was like "hey" and slept...for another couple of minutes until I got up again to meet with Alex and go to advising, he missed his appointment, lol because we never checked in. I got to look at what classes I want and will be going around to get approval on Monday. Then we went to Shatin with Korea, his friend, Andy and "Charles". We ate at this vietnamese place and the pho was not real viet! 43HKD. Then walked around mall, but Korea and his friend left because they had advising and stuff. I got my hairdryer and toothbrush and this chocolate that I heard was really good that I haven't seen in boston... Left around 4PM to go back to i-house and my planned nap never happened, I have no clue what I did. And at 6PM, we had welcoming dinner, we went to this legit chinese restaurant...with like shark fin soup and all. 10 course meal. Like those asian weddings. Sat with Jeannette, Tony, Raymond, Korea, Friend, Alex, Andy, met Ian who's from UMASS too, this other girl that I met I guess, and 2 random people that someone knew?! Everyone kept asking to sit at our table and we're like NOOOO, it's saved!! Got back to dorm around 930ish. i-house is SUCH a hike! OMG, it's like climbing a mountain. I never want to go back to my room because it's so far and I have no clue how the buses work! And it's sooo cold here at night because there's no such thing as heat so I have like two blankets, and the mattress is sooo thin and you need to bring your own toilet paper to the bathroom. I don't think they know what "shower caddies" are. Oh I also met one of my flatmates today..she's from Florida, reallyy nice!! It's 11:30 PM here and I'm exhausted. I'll upload pictures later.
